OLD SAN JUAN. The walls of this unique gallery are like a freeze-frame of winged migration. Butterflies of all sizes, shapes and in a rainbow of impossibly beautiful colors are preserved and mounted in clear acrylic box frames. Each one comes from special farms or ranches and has completed its brief life span before being captured and preserved. The works are all signed and dated originals, making unique souvenirs from your time on the island.

OLD SAN JUAN. Sculptor Frank Meisler casts his dynamic pieces in gold, bronze and silver. The high level of artistry has made these sculptures oft-used as gifts for dignitaries visiting Puerto Rico. Even if you are not planning to purchase, this gallery is worth a stop just to view the display.

OLD SAN JUAN. Housed in a 300-year-old building with rough stone floors, curving arched doorways and grottos, one of the most famous galleries in San Juan specializes in works by the late artist Angel Botello. Puerto Rico was the adopted home of Botello who was born in Spain and also spent many years in Haiti; each piece of art is infused with the experience of these places. The gallery also showcases contemporary young artists from around the island.

Surprisingly enough, the artist featured at this gallery was born in New York and raised in Connecticut, not San Juan. However Jan D'Esopo's love of the island is evident in her beautiful paintings and sculptures that celebrate the colors and forms found throughout Puerto Rico.
